If you’ve ever owned a dog, you probably understand why we call them man’s best friend. Your dog is loyal, friendly, and aims to please you, no matter what you do. However, owning a dog is also a big responsibility and sometimes it’s hard to give them the exercise that they need. Your dog’s exercise needs depend on its breed, age, and size. However, no matter what type of dog your own, all dogs need some form of exercise for both their physical and mental health. Although it can be easy to find time to play and exercise your dog during the weekend, weekdays can often become hectic and sometimes we forget about the needs of our furry friends, or just don’t have the time to take them for a walk. At Northeastern Fences, we can help with one of our custom designed dog runs!
What is a Dog Run?
A dog run provides a place for you to put your dog where they will be protected from escaping, but still, have plenty of room to run around. Basically, it is a fenced in area on your yard which is big enough for your dog to run around in, but also has tall enough fencing to prevent an escape. The design and size of your dog run will vary depending on the size of your dog. Obviously, a Great Dane needs a lot more room to run around than a Chihuahua, so take your dog’s size into consideration when you’re choosing a dog run design. If you need help with the design and size of your dog run, our fencing experts at Northeastern Fences can help you design one to meet your specific pet’s needs.
Benefits of a Dog Run
There are many benefits of having a dog run. First of all, it provides an area were you can let your dog run and play unsupervised, meaning that you can let your dog exercise while you get ready for work or do chores. A dog run will also allow you to let your pup play outside when you don’t feel like going out in the cold to take them on a walk. Just remember, although most dogs adapt well to cold temperature, you still need to monitor them to make sure they aren’t getting too cold. Dog runs are also great for when you have company over that is timid around dogs, or may be allergic. Instead of cramming your dog into a room where they may bark and be a distraction, you can let them enjoy playing outdoors.
At Northeastern Fences we would love to meet with you and your pup to determine what type of dog run would fit their need.
